4/10/2010 - Hi! The app has been updated with some fixes and features.
You can now save and load your patterns! The app is still in a rough form but again
I'd rather throw this out into the wild and get feedback than stay in my cave. Here
is what is new:
- New/Open/Save - you can now save your work on your computer, and open it up again.
Share your files with friends! Send me something cool (via Twitter and http://drop.io
??) and I'll try and post it here for others to download.
- More steps - you can now program up to 64 steps! Use the "Steps" counter to change
this.
- Delay and Filters - I moved the delay and filter effects out of each sample.
Delay and filters are now controlled as a whole for the entire mix. Just saves on
CPU...
- Sequencer cursor - you'll notice that there is a blue marker above the sequencer
grid showing you the current step being played.
Be aware that the "New" and "Open" buttons don't warn you about losing your changes
if you have other work in progress. Please stay patient, folks. I know this makes
for a lousy feature but the emphasis is on creating sounds and not optimal file
I/O features.
Future features:
- Upload your own samples
- Keep the sample name in view while scrolling horizontally
- Introduce a "song" editor so you can add saved patterns into a larger song project.
- Volume control for each sample
- Load wav samples asynchronously off the web so that the Silverlight app can stay small(er).
4/6/2010 - The app is rough and buggy at this point, but I just
wanted to get this app out into the wild for now and let folks try it out. All samples
were obtained from ihatebreakcore.com. Delay
and filter effects from musicdsp.org. The app
was written from scratch using Silverlight and C#.
Download SilverlightSamplerDemo.mp3 - a demo song created with this app.
There's no play/stop function yet - just start adding notes and it'll play. Enjoy!
