March 2008 Entries

Songza is a music search engine.  Stream the results through your browser.  Send songs to Twitter, email them to a friend, or embed results on your web site.  The range of what Songza finds is just average - not a lot of rare stuff, but I love being able to click around and find other tunes/artists by accident while searching for something else.  Who knew there was a 50 Cent vs. Helmet track?  I didn't.

Sound illegal?  You can't download the songs, and Songza pays ASCAP for the rights to stream the music. It's completely legit and free for you and me.

Here are some nice finds:

Have fun.

This morning I broke off my J key:

This happened recently with the F key.  The difference this time was that the entire assembly of the J key didn't break off with the key cap and I was able to stick it back on.  It's a chronic disorder, I tell you.

I can't remember a winter in Minnesota without a great snowfall in the 2nd half of March. 2008 did not disappoint.

Post-Vernal Equinox Snow 2

Post-Vernal Equinox Snow 2008

I was thinking of writing up a post on using Twitter versus traditional blogging and why I haven't been blogging much lately, but Scott Hanselman already summed up this topic very nicely:

All I really have to add to this topic is that I find myself more eager to open up twitter.com or a Twitter client than think of writing up a post for my site or opening up my RSS reader.  I'm not sure why that is yet, but I think Scott suggests some decent reasons.  His points may or may not be true in my case, but he makes some good ones nonetheless.

See you after a fresh install...

I've been on a new project for three days.  The development budget is pretty small - about 240 hours.  For these three days I've been doing nothing but estimating and helping plan for new scope.  10% of the budget has now been used up on estimating and planning features that can't be paid for.  Small projects can kill, I tell you.
